Plot: London, 1864 and would-be sorceror Zebediah Clench tries to conjure up dark spirits and is rewarded with an invocation of Evil Time. To help Time carry out its plans it snatches two children, Jason and Sarah Harding, from a performance of A Christmas Carol in 1980. Sapphire and Steel, using the vibrations held within a Christmas tree newly decorated by the children, follow them back to 1864. As the agents search, Clench prepares a potion for the children and forces them to drink it - just as Sapphire and Steel stumble into Clench's cellar they are greeted by the Archangel of Doom, summoned by Time. Sapphire realises she must destroy the Time force controlling the Demon - she seizes a stuffed owl which has been acting as the vessel of Time and throws it into a fire. As the cellar begins to blaze, the Demon attacks Clench and the time agents whisk the children back to 1980 and safety.
Comments: Ranson obviously enjoyed his stint on the Oliver Twist strip and so returns Sapphire and Steel to a beautifully rendered, foggy Dickensian London. It says 'ere that 'the force of Time is allied to Satan himself'! Lorks!
