BOOK TWENTY-SEVEN
Published 1992
BP Team:
Yvette Fielding, John Leslie and Diane-Louise Jordan.
Cover: Another of those weird back and front arrangements that splits up the team - John and Diane are on the front and Yvette is on the back with kittens Kari and Oke.

Features: Some dressing up in the studio as we learn the facts and fiction of the Pirates of the High Seas... Kittens Kari and Oke come to BP to replace bad-tempered pedigree pussy Willow... The 'crew' dress up in Star Trek uniforms for Trek's 25th Anniversary... There's a set of presenter fact files once again, making the whole thing look like Smash Hits. Diane's favourite female musician is Caron Wheeler. Right... the expo travels to Japan - John appears in a Samurai soap opera... A gymnast drops into the studio - but then they always do... Diane helps to cut down the Norway Christmas tree for Trafalgar Square thus following in the footsteps of many a BP presenter... Kids collect cans for the appeal, to buy minibuses, 'panic' buttons and incontinence laundry services for the elderly... Gerry Anderson drops in to launch a new series of repeats of Thunderbirds on BBC2 and John and Yvette are strung up as International Rescue crew. Anthea Turner and the mega-succesful Tracy Island make are just around the corner... Pancake mayhem in the studio: "John is most impressed by Stephen Yates' stylish toss."... John Leslie tries out a flight simulator - ooooh, how daring... There's a Blue Peter Trivia Quiz with questions such as "Which ex-BP presenter is often found on Radio Bedfordshire?" (Answer at the foot of this page)... Clare Bradley is the Blue Peter gardener... The team try out cross country ski-ing... The Blue Peter 532 loco is once again restored (maybe they left it out in the rain?)...

Makes: A weird coathanger mobile with, er, drawings of trainers hanging off the bottom.

Historical Figure's Life Story in Pictures: A montage of material on Columbus

Notes: Truly hideous 80s design throughout with geometric frippery and basic typefaces in evidence although really this just captures the era as much as any of the 70s books. The last of the original (broken) run is another one that's hard to find. Again three pounds is the likely asking price. Thus ended and era and for five years there would be no Blue Peter Book under the Christmas tree... (oh, yeah, the Radio Bedfordshire presenter was Simon 'Up With the Partridge' Groom)
