THE BOOK OF BLUE PETER (aka Book 2)
Published 1965
BP Team: Chris Trace, Valerie Singleton.
Cover: Pretty cool photo cover, of badge-wearing Val and Chris, and Tony Hart's Blue Peter Ship makes its first appearance.

Features: Honey, the Blue Peter Guide dog... Educational article on the Victoria Cross... Jason the cat is growing up... Aircraft of yesterday and today (the almost pre jet age BOAC VC10!) are featured... Petra's puzzle page (filler!)... A four page spread on the Changing of the Guard (What are we? Tourists?)... Chris goes on location with the film crew to see some digging equipment - we meet Geoff Botterill the BP film editor. Working on film outdoors was still a big deal in these days obviously...

Makes: Val shows us how to make "more things from plastic bottles"
A nesting box
A peculiarly airbrushed Val shows us how to make a 'Coldstream Guard' Teddy
Christopher Trace makes a brilliant 'foldaway/stand in the middle' style train set layout. Again.
A Clown pyjama case

Historical Figure's Life Story in Pictures: Scott of the Antarctic
Stories: Bleep and Booster and Bengo (as far as we know they did actually used to tell Bengo stories on the TV programme in those days!).

Notes: With the licence now with the BBC this was published just after Blue Peter went from one to two programmes a week. Like Book 1 this is extremely rare.If you can track one down we could be talking £25 for a mint condition one and maybe £5-7 for a serviceable reading copy. Spines are always missing - the Shelf's copy has an inch and a half off the bottom and a half off the top and believe me that makes it a very good copy! Haggle on this one, basically. Has been known to go to around the £50 mark for particularly good nick. Scary! Maybe it's rabid Who fans snapping them up because of the tiny drawing of a police box on the 'Road Race' game?
